Jeroen van Vliet has won the Buma Boy Edgar Prijs 2014, the Netherlands’ most prestigious and honourable jazz award.

The laudatory jury, chaired by Frank Bolder, called Van Vliet “humble”, “pure”, but at the same time “versatile” and with a “strong personality”. A masterly piano player with a big fantasy and courage to experiment, whose characteristic own language and open mind make him sound convincing in different genres.

According to the jury Jeroen van Vliet is “one of the few poets of the Dutch improvised music, who is never tempted to compose in unnecessary complicated forms, but always remains faithful to a beautiful sound.”
